Mountain real estate, a safe haven
According to the National Federation of Savoie Mont Blanc Real Estate (FNAIM SMB), the mountain real estate market in Pays de Savoie recorded a record year in 2022. Among the top 30 alpine resorts with the most transactions, La Plagne is in first place, followed by Chamonix, with 543 and 370 sales respectively last year. Les Arcs are also doing well with 238 transactions. On the price side, in Savoie, Val d'Isère still attracts investors with a m2 at 13,907 €, the highest in the Alps, ahead of Courchevel with 12,625 € per m2. In Haute-Savoie, Megève is at €9,367 per m2 and Chamonix at €9,264 per m2. "Buying in the mountains remains a pleasure purchase, a safe bet", underlines Bérengère Servat, vice-president of the FNAIM SMB. It is essentially a second home market.
